4.  Our recommitment to you, Rosedale, and the future.

Losing a building is a significant event.  But we have been preparing for this day for some time as events have unfolding around us.  We have been in serious prayer about what God wants from us as a congregation.  Over time our prayers became focused on two questions: where were we to move once we lost the building and how were we to “be” church in the future?  It was amazing to watch God's answers unfold.

First, God made clear to us that we were to stay in Rosedale.  We didn’t know how this would happen since we would soon be losing our building, but we committed ourselves to this, trusting in God to somehow provide.   And He did, by opening the door for us to relocate to Rosedale United Methodist Church.  We give thanks to God for His provision, and to RUMC for welcoming  us to use their building.

Second, God made clear that not only were we to stay in Rosedale, but we were to commit ourselves to serving Rosedale.  In the past we have been content to simply share an address with our neighbors.  We've always welcomed people in our neighborhood to join with us, but we've never really thought of “serving”.  That is about to change - we have come to understand that we exist primarily to serve Rosedale.

As we approached our move we began to understand that this is not simply about leaving a building or even standing for Christ.  This is about allowing God to make a new church centered on the Historic Christian Faith that would also be relevant for our changing culture.  It turns out, we have real work to do, for God and our neighborhood.
